2 Officers Shot outside Ferguson Police Department!
Shots fired around 12a.m. as small crowd of protesters begin to breakup and leave from a held demonstration in the resignation of Ferguson police chief, Tom Jackson. Whom stepped down on Wednesday. His resignation following that of city manager John Shaw, In addition a Ferguson's court clerk who was fired, while two other police officers and The judge who oversaw the Core System resigned! Jackson overseeing the Ferguson force for five years, prior the to the shooting of Mike Brown. Protesters gathered to celebrate Jackson's resignation and call for Mayor James Knowles III to resign!
Authorities believe shots came from a handgun approximately 120 yards away. Police Chief Jon Belmar of St. Louis County stated "This is really an ambush." The first victim an officer from Webster Groves, age 32, 5 year veteran, was shot in the face just below his right eye lodging the bullet behind his ear. Second victim an officer from St. Louis County, age 41, 14 year veteran was shot in his shoulder causing the bullet to exit his back. Both men were conscious and are expected to recover without suffering any long term damage, says Belmar!
Witness Marciay Pitchford, 20 among the protesters, told Associated Press the protest had been pretty peaceful and then shots were fired. "I saw The officer go down, and the other police officers drew their guns while other officers dragged the injured officer away," pitchford also stated "All of a sudden, everybody started running and dropping to the ground!"
